The Blue Room
The Blue Room is the pre-school room and
caters for 16 children from approximately 3 years to
school age.
We operate a self-registration system
This involves the child looking at a selection of names
to find their own name supported by the practioners
if necessary. Your child can then place their name onto
the ‘rocket’.
The room supports continuous provision
these are areas which are continuously provided e.g.
Construction, Writing Area, I.C.T. Creative Area etc.
Continuous provision provides your chid with areas that
are well planned to meet the learning objectives and
learning opportunities. We aim for the environment to
be challenging for all the children at their differing
stages of development, whilst being a safe and secure
place to learn. Opportunities for children to talk about
their learning are provided through the support and
interaction of adults in a play based situation, with
a balance of adult-led and child-initiates activities.
Alongside the continuous provision we
have focused/adult led activities. During these times
we will look at achieving a specific learning objective
through creating a particular piece of work e.g. junk
model dinosaurs. As part of these activities, we bake
for birthdays and other special occasions.
We will be introducing your child to Numeracy
and Literacy through various activities taken from the
latest publications and training guides. Working closely
with our Advisory Teacher, the activities are structured
to be educational and above all fun. These activities
will take place in the outdoor curriculum as well as
indoors.
We will be using ‘Jolly Phonics’
which is a leading scheme for teaching literacy skills
and is consistent with the six areas of learning and
development. Jolly Phonics has also been adopted by
many schools, therefore giving your child continuity.
