At the rear of the nursery
We have a spacious walled area, featuring some cover, that provides various learning opportunities with sand, water, and gardening.
Children can play safely with the equipment while being closely supervised, encouraging them to set their own challenges and explore acceptable risks. We make use of open-ended resources, like crates, large tyres, boxes, and guttering, which can be moved around and manipulated, providing excellent chances for children to develop their communication, problem-solving, and collaborative skills through building and creating.
Outdoors, children can gain confidence and develop their physical abilities by climbing, running, jumping, and balancing on wall-hung pallets, navigating the obstacle course, and spinning on the ‘Whizzy Dizzy’.
The trapeze swing is always a favourite, offering just the right amount of challenge and risk, which helps them refine their coordination and physical skills.
The sensory shed is a peaceful space for children, encouraging quiet time with books, emphasising the value of calming activities.
Overall, the outdoor environment provides a natural setting for children, offering a sense of freedom that simply cannot be replicated indoors.
