Welcome to the Yellow Room, our vibrant pre-school space designed for up to 22 children. Located on the ground floor at the rear of the nursery, it offers direct access to the outdoors — perfect for curious minds and active explorers.
Children begin their session with self-registration. They look through a selection of names to find their own, with gentle support from practitioners if needed, and place it on our self-registration tree. It’s a simple routine that builds confidence, independence, and early name recognition.

Children choose where and how they want to play, becoming deeply involved in activities that spark their imagination and support their development.
Every child gets the chance to be our session leader. They choose the story or song, and help guide parts of the session — a wonderful way to build confidence and a sense of belonging.
We use Jolly Phonics, a leading early literacy programme, alongside the Phase One Letters and Sounds approach. These playful, sound-based activities help children build strong foundations for reading and writing.

The Yellow Room has direct access to a serving hatch to the nursery kitchen. Children can chat with our cook, observe food being prepared, and learn about ingredients and cooking processes — a rich, real-world learning experience.
During continuous provision, practitioners observe children closely and introduce in-the-moment experiences tailored to each child’s interests. This responsive approach helps children make meaningful progress while staying fully engaged in their play.
